How to use the Stopwatch
Press Start and the stopwatch begins counting up in minutes, seconds and hundredths of a second. Press Stop to pause it, and Start again to carry on from where you left off. While it is running, press Lap to record the current time without stopping, which is great for timing each part of an activity or each lap of a race. The lap times appear in a list below. Press Reset to set everything back to zero and clear the laps.
Timing races, laps and personal bests
A stopwatch shines wherever you want to know how long something took: a sprint across the yard, a tidy-up, a puzzle beaten against the clock. The lap button is the clever part, since tapping it records a split without stopping the count, so you can line up each leg of a relay or each round of an activity and compare them. Racing against your own best time quietly turns almost any task into a challenge.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Stopwatch for?
It counts time upwards, so you can time how long something takes. Press Start to begin, Stop to pause, and Lap to record a split time without stopping. It is handy for races, timed activities and classroom tasks.
What is a lap time?
A lap records the time at that moment without stopping the clock, so you can compare how long each part of an activity took. Each lap is added to the list below.
What is the difference between a stopwatch and a timer?
A stopwatch counts up from zero to measure how long something takes, while a countdown timer starts at a set time and counts down to zero. Use a stopwatch to time a race or see how fast a task gets done; reach for a timer when you want an alarm after a fixed amount of time has passed.
