About Minesweeper

Hidden mines are scattered across the board. Tap a square to clear it. If it is safe, it shows a number, and that number tells you how many mines are touching that square, including the diagonals. If a cleared square is blank, it has no mines nearby, so the area around it opens up automatically. Use the numbers like clues to figure out which squares are safe and which hide mines. Clear every safe square to win. If you tap a mine, the game ends, so think carefully.

How to flag mines

When you are sure a square hides a mine, mark it with a flag so you do not tap it by accident. Press the mode button to switch to Flag mode, tap the squares you want to flag, then switch back to Dig mode to keep clearing. On a computer you can also right click a square to flag it.

Tips for kids

Start with the lower numbers, they are easier to solve. If a 1 is touching only one unopened square, that square must be a mine, so flag it. If you have already flagged all the mines around a number, the other squares around it are safe to clear. Work slowly and use the clues, there is no need to guess most of the time.
