About 2048
The board has tiles with numbers on them. Slide them all in one direction using the arrow keys, or by swiping on a phone or tablet. When two tiles with the same number slide into each other, they join into one tile with double the number, so two 2s make a 4, two 4s make an 8, and so on. After every move a new tile appears. Keep joining tiles to build bigger numbers and try to reach the 2048 tile.
Tips for kids
Pick one corner and try to keep your biggest number there, then build around it. Move in just two or three directions most of the time so your big tiles do not get split up. Think one move ahead before you slide. There is no timer, so plan carefully.
Why it helps learning
2048 is great practice for doubling, place value and planning ahead. Children get used to powers of two and learn to think a step ahead, all inside a calm puzzle they can play at their own pace.
