About Word Match

A picture appears at the top, such as a cat, a star or an apple. Below it are four words. Read each word and tap the one that names the picture. If you choose correctly, you score a point and a new picture appears. If not, the correct word lights up so you can learn it. There are 10 pictures in a round, and your best score is remembered for next time.

Tips for kids

Say the name of the picture out loud first, then look for that word among the choices. Sound out the first letter of the word in your head, it often helps you spot the right one quickly. Take your time, reading carefully matters more than being fast.

Why it helps learning

Word Match links pictures with written words, which is exactly how early reading grows. Children build their sight vocabulary and gain confidence recognizing words, all through a friendly, colorful game.
