About Missing Vowels
You are shown a word, but all of its vowels have been removed and replaced with empty boxes. The consonants are still there to help you. Tap the vowel buttons, A, E, I, O and U, to fill in the empty boxes from left to right. When every box is filled, the game checks your word. If it is right, you score a point and a new word appears. If it is not quite right, the vowels clear so you can try again. Press Hint to fill in the next correct vowel.
Tips for kids
Read the consonants and say them out loud, then think about which word they could spell. Many words follow a pattern where a vowel sits between consonants. If you are stuck, try the most common vowels first, like A and E. The Hint button is there whenever you need a little help.
Why it helps learning
Missing Vowels helps children learn the difference between vowels and consonants and strengthens spelling and word recognition. Filling in the gaps makes them think about how words are built, which is great for reading too.
