About Sudoku
Sudoku is a logic puzzle played on a 9 by 9 grid, split into nine smaller 3 by 3 boxes. Some numbers are filled in to start. Your job is to fill every empty square so that each row, each column and each 3 by 3 box contains the numbers 1 to 9, with no number repeated in any row, column or box. You never need to guess. Every puzzle here has one solution that can be reached with logic alone.
To play, tap a square and then tap a number, or use your keyboard. Turn on Notes to pencil in small candidate numbers when you are not sure yet. Use Hint if you get stuck, and Erase to clear a square. The game checks your entries against the solution and counts mistakes, so you always know where you stand.
Tips and strategy
Start with the rows, columns and boxes that already have the most numbers, since they have the fewest possibilities left. Look for a square where only one number can possibly fit, and fill it in. Use Notes to track candidates in trickier squares, then remove candidates as you place numbers nearby. Work in small steps and the grid slowly opens up. On Hard and Expert, lean on Notes more, because the logic chains are longer.
Why Sudoku is good for the brain
Sudoku is a calm, screen-friendly way to practice focus, patience and logical thinking. It suits a wide range of ages, works well as a quiet activity at home, and makes a good settle-down task in the classroom. There is no clock pressure unless you want it, so it is as relaxing or as challenging as you choose.
